VACATURE: RESEARCH ASSISTANT Transitions to adulthood of former unaccompanied asylum seeking children

RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Grade 6: £26,004 - £31,020 p.a.
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention and the Refugees Study Centre (within the Department of International Development) is inviting applications for a Research Assistant to work on a project exploring transitions to adulthood of former unaccompanied children in Europe. The post is available from 1 January 2013, on a fixed-term contract for eleven months.
The position offers an exciting opportunity for someone with relevant knowledge and experience to further develop their research expertise and project management skills in the fields of migration studies and social policy.
You will work on a project entitled In Protracted Limbo: Transitions to adulthood of former unaccompanied asylum seeking children. The successful candidate will work with the principal investigators to map existing work in the field across Europe, build collaborative international links and develop a multi-site research proposal for more substantive funding.
You will be educated to at least degree level in a relevant social science disciple, with a demonstrable interest in and research experience of migration and/or youth and childhood issues. You will have ability and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary environment, with an understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods and insights from different social science disciplines.
