Come visit the Werkgroep Vreemdelingenrecht (immigration law thinktank) at the "I am EXPAT"-fair in The Hague on the 4th of November

The Werkgroep Vreemdelingenrecht is a thinktank of dedicated immigration lawyers. Most of us are attorneys working in different firms but one of us teaches immigration law at a college. We pride ourselves in trying to give clients the best legal advice and assistance possible. That is why we meet on a regular basis to discuss the developments in our legal field and learn from each other's expertise. Moving to another country is complicated as it is but the legal aspects have so many loopholes and bogs that good advice is essential. And that is what we can offer. On the 4th of November we will be in The Hague and you can meet us at the IamExpatFair from 10.00-17.00. We will be represented by our following members: - mr Julien Luscuere - Rotterdam, https://www.inigo.nl/julien-luscuere - mr Merijn de Jong - Rotterdam, https://www.inigo.nl/merijn-de-jong - mr Anton Kleijweg, Den Haag, https://www.advocatenkantoorkleijweg.nl/ - mevrouw mr Joelle de Poorte, Dordrecht, http:

Aanrader! As our then crown prince married a daughter from a minister during the Argentinian junta days I think we in The Netherlands know a lot more about that dark episode than for instance people from Poland. She became a respected and very popular queen by the way. The sins of the fathers should not be blamed on the children and at least dad was not welcome at the wedding. The day before I started to read the book I got as a present from the writer, I met someone who was a refugee from Syria. A nice hardworking young man who told me he had saved up during 10 years working in the Emirates, had come back home, bo

Refugees reshape Jordan’s urban landscape — report

The rise in the number of refugees is most felt in urban areas and primary cities like Amman (Photo by Camille Dupire) AMMAN — Amman hosts 32 per cent of the 1.4 million refugees currently living in Jordan, a recent report by the World Bank and Feinstein International Centre, that looked into the impact of urban displacement in the MENA cities, found.   With the multiplication of regional crises and waves of unrest, the issue of forcibly displaced people relocation has become one of the most pressing challenges in the region, according to the report titled “Cities of Refuge in the Middle East”, which stressed that most of these people live outside of camps. In Jordan, 80 per cent of the Syrian refugees live in host communities across the Kingdom, mostly concentrated in urban areas, according to official figures. This is due to a perception that cities offer bet

Jordan Times "Group discussion tackles labels ‘in a world of migration’

Some 75 participants take part in a collaborative discussion on labelling and bias in identity definition at Jadal for Knowledge and Culture in Amman on Wednesday (Photo by Hani Obaidat) AMMAN — “How to deal with labels and questioning self-identity in a world of globalisation and migration?” asked the participants at a group discussion held at Jadal for Knowledge and Culture by the online media project Hybris Media on Wednesday. Jordan, which has welcomed 19,299 resettlement departures in 2016, hosts one of the largest refugee populations in the world, half of which is under 18 years old, according to the latest UNHCR figures.   Based on that finding, a collaborative community discussion was organised to find solutions to the issue of bias and labelling that comes with refugees’ integration in society.   “As we see people from different cultural backgrounds constantly facin
