Iran's Justice Minister Deplores West's Instrumental Use of Human Rights

 TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Justice Minister Morteza Bakhtiari lambasted the West's double-standard policies on human rights, and said that the West is making an instrumental use of the issue to deprive the third world countries of their rights.

"Unfortunately, human rights has today turned into a political tool in the hands of the western powers and they violate the inalienable rights of the third world countries unfairly using these instruments," Bakhtiari said in a meeting with Secretary-General of VALCO Rahmat Mohammed in Tehran on Sunday.

Mohammed, for his part, underlined the importance of human rights issues for VALCO, and said the organization has carried out different studies and made lots of efforts in this field.

He blasted the imposition of unilateral sanctions against countries by the western powers as a clear violation of human rights, and said such embargos will harm nations more than the governments.

Iran has always lashed out at the western countries for using human rights issues as a tool and pretext for pressurizing independent states to conceal their own crimes and wrong deeds.

In similar remarks in December, Iran's Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani lambasted the West's double-standard policies and stances on human rights issues, and said the hegemonic powers use human rights as an instrument to pressure independent states.

"Unfortunately, the westerners have a completely double-standard look at human rights issues and use them as a tool against the countries which don't depend on them," Amoli Larijani said in a meeting with Sri Lankan Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem in Tehran at the time.

He said despite the double-standard views of the West about human rights, the Eastern states have a proper and humane view and "the human rights issue enjoys an exalted position in the Eastern countries".

And he forgets to mention that his country is hanging gay people and persecute people who change faith. How does that be an instrument of Western Countries when people condemn that?
