Job description

Tasks:
  • Undertaking research work for publication individually and in collaboration with other researchers.
  • Participating in workshops and conferences according to project specifications.
  • Contributing to disseminating information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinating Utrecht’s work package with international partners.

Requirements

You should have a strong background in human rights and comparative research. A multidisciplinary background is an asset. You should have the ability to analyze and interpret complex, conceptual and specialist matters to suit different audiences with varying levels of understanding and ability. Full proficiency in English as the main working language is required. Some knowledge/understanding of Dutch is strongly recommended. Spanish, French, German or any other language will be an asset. Finally, an excellent ability to work both independently and in close cooperation with the other team members.

Conditions of employment

You will be based at the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM), part of the Institute of International and European Law at Utrecht University in the Netherlands for the period of the project (max. three years). The salary for a full time appointment is € 3.227 gross per month (scale 11 of the CAO NU).

The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.

The Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM), Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance of Utrecht University is appointing a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the project on Fostering Human Rights Among European (External and Internal) Policies (FRAME), funded by the European Union. The Research covers several packages but mostly deals with Underlying Conceptions of Human Rights, Democracy and Rule of Law. It will be done in cooperation with senior researchers at Utrecht University and several other universities in and outside Europe. More information: www.uu.nl/sim.

In verband met geldwolven die denken geld te kunnen claimen op krantenartikelen die op een blog als deze worden geplaatst maar na meestal een dag voor de krantenlezers aan leeswaardigheid hebben ingeboet terwijl wij vreemdelingenrecht specialisten ze soms wel nog jaren gebruiken om er een kopie van te maken voor een zaak ga ik over tot het plaatsen van alleen het eerste stukje. Ja ik weet het: de kans dat u doorklikt is geringer dan wanneer het hele artikel hier staat en een kopie van het orgineel maken handig kan zijn voor uw zaak.
