VACANCY / VACATURE PhD: Research project ‘Euromix: Regulating mixed intimacies in France, Italy or United Kingdom’

  Research project ‘Euromix: Regulating mixed intimacies in France, Italy or United Kingdom’ This project answers the question If, when and where mixed sex, relationships and marriages were regulated, how they were regulated, how and why these regulations developed and how couples were affected.  Each PhD-project focusses of on one of three countries: France, Italy of United Kingdom.    The methodology used in this project will be a combination of historical and socio-legal analysis.    Tasks • conducting research - resulting in a PhD thesis in the form of a book and/or articles in academic journals; • (limited) undergraduate teaching.   Requirements We are looking for candidates with a Master Degree in a relevant field (e.g: history, law,  anthropology, sociology). Melanie Griffiths is a DPhil candidate at Oxford University, with affiliation to the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, and the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society. Her research is on the asylum system in the UK, with a particular focus on refused asylum seekers and immigration detainees. Her doctoral thesis is on truth, trust and identification and she has also written on time and uncertainty in relation to migration.
