BRUSSEL ( ANP  i ) - De  Europese Commissie  i  stelt een onderzoek in naar de verhoging van de leges voor verblijfsvergunningen in Nederland. Ze heeft dat maandag laten weten in antwoord op schriftelijke vragen van  Europarlementariër  i   Judith Sargentini  i  van GroenLinks  i . De administratieve kosten voor veel verblijfsvergunningen in Nederland, waaronder gezinshereniging, zijn per 1 juli verhoogd. Volgens Sargentini ondermijnen de hoge kosten het recht op gezinshereniging. Dat is volgens haar in strijd met Europese regels. De Europese Commissie zal de Nederlandse regelgeving toetsen aan het  EU-recht  i . Sargentini verwacht dat ze Nederland op de vingers zal tikken. ,,Nederland zet zich dan weer op de kaart als een ongastvrij land.'' BRUSSEL ( ANP  i ) - Landen in de paspoortvrije Schengenzone mogen hun grenzen straks nog maar 5 dagen op eigen initiatief sluiten, en dan alleen als een 'onvoorzienbare' verstoring van de openbare orde dreigt, bijvoorbeeld na een terroristische aanval. Willen ze hun grens langer sluiten, dan is er toestemming nodig van de Europese Commissie  i  en de andere lidstaten. Ook als de verstoring van de openbare orde 'voorzienbaar' is, zoals bij de organisatie van grote politieke of sportieve evenementen, is voortaan toestemming vereist. In zo'n geval kunnen de grenzen tot maximaal 6 maanden dicht. Een voorstel van deze strekking zal  eurocommissaris  i   Cecilia Malmström  i ( Binnenlandse Zaken  i ) vrijdag presenteren, aldus  EU  i -bronnen dinsdag.
